Dr. Kara Zivin is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan Medical School. She is also a Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a Faculty Associate at the Institute for Social Research. She is also a Research Health Scientist at the VA Center for Clinical Management Research in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has a Ph.D. in health policy from Harvard University and an MS degree in health policy and management from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Zivin’s research applies quantitative methods to mental health services and policy with a specific focus on predictors and consequences of depression. He work examines the impact of mood disorders on clinical and functional outcomes, including chronic disease, morbidity, and mortality.
