Dr. Mahajan is the Vice-Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine and Division Chief of Children’s Emergency Services. He is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics and in addition, he also serves as the Chair, Section of Emergency Medicine for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Dr. Mahajan is a pediatric health services and outcomes researcher. His research interests include infectious diseases (specifically the evaluation and management of febrile infants), inflammation (asthma, sepsis) as well as development of clinically meaningful decision rules in the evaluation of febrile infants. He is also evaluating how diagnosis related decisions are made under austere circumstances and its impact on patient safety and quality of care.
