Theodore Iwashyna is a Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan. He is a practicing medical intensivist at both the University of Michigan (focusing on tertiary critical care) and the VA Ann Arbor Health System (focusing on more community critical care). He is best known for his work defining the concept of “survivorship” after ICU and measuring the post-intensive care syndrome. His research skills include longitudinal surveys to assess the evolution of patients’ recovery, administrative data, and the use of advanced statistical techniques.
